Australian Gold Botanical SPF 50 Lotion Review | Best Mineral Sunscreen? | #SunscreenSunday

Friends, Romans, Field Bunnies! Today I review the Australian Gold Botanical SPF 50 Lotion, the first Western style susncreen I’ve used in quite a while. I must say, I liked it MUCH more than I expected. Hope you enjoy!

Have a beautiful day!

if you decide to purchase this sunscreen, please consider doing so through my affiliate link:

it doesn’t cost you more, and i do get a 5-8% commission from the sale after 120 days, which may be peanuts but helps me buy more sunscreens to review! i truly appreciate it!

Palladio 1500 says:

Have you reviewed the Australian Gold Tinted Face SPF 50? I really like that one and it seems to be quite popular.

Marie Bayona says:

Could I mix foundation into this to “tint” it? Do you think that would work ok?

Annika Schonewill says:

Do you have an oil cleanser you recommend to help get this sunscreen off?

Goran Graf says:

For me, 4% of Titanium dioxide and 4% Zinc oxide is not enough for high UVA protection :(

C Fizzle says:

I’m thinking this is actually a body sunscreen and not a face sunscreen although it doesn’t specify on the bottle or the website. I found this in the body sunscreen section. I’m using it as well but I mix it with a tinted face cream. I know Australian Gold also has a tinted version as well. That one does specify it’s a face lotion.

I love these reviews! Keep them coming, already ordered some Japanese ones because of you. Love the discussion of ingredients, that is most important to me, along with cosmetic elegance

Tina Hu says:

Nice review! I grabbed this one by mistake awhile back and returned it immediately due to the strong fragrance. I thought it was fragrance-free as I skimmed over the ingredients—primarily looking for fragrance near the end, as you stated.

The rave for this product is the one with the blue leafs and it is called Botanical Sunscreen Face (tinted) Broad Spectrum SPF 50. This one is fragrance free and more. It holds up quite well with water, although not attractive. It is truly a great product and leaves a smooth canvas for either applying a foundation or wearing it alone. I wear it alone typically. It can be quite drying and may irritate sensitive skin.

My go to store brands are Avene Light Hydrating Sunscreen Lotion SPF 50+ mineral sunscreen. It’s quite moisturizing and leaves absolutely NO white cast. It is for both face and body, 4.2 oz and runs about $28. The other store brand I like is the aforementioned Australian Gold Tinted, fragrance free ($13).

My daily go to SPF, non-store brands are SkinCeuticles SPF 50 tinted mineral Fusion (1.7 oz $34), EltaMD Tinted UV Physical Broad Spectrum SPF 41 (3oz. $30).

I love your sunscreen reviews , so helpful and addictive. I appreciate the reviews of the more obscure asian sunscreens that others aren’t reviewing but I would also enjoy your opinion on the more available asian ones on sites like Soko glam , beautysesh, etc. Also would like to see the elta md range.

Liz Torres says:

I’m really glad you added the Skyn Type section <3

Daryl Long says:

The smell was so bad that I was CONVINCED that I had a bottle that was somehow “off.” I’m usually good with fragrances; however, this one was so strong and so bad that I returned it. And the thing is, I can’t really describe the smell. You described it as coco butter-ish but I didn’t really get that. It just smelled awful!

granada scarf says:

Interesting and positive review. But I’m wondering why you reviewed the lotion intended for your body instead of the Australian Gold Botanical SPF 50 Tinted Face Lotion? The face lotion formula doesn’t have the smell that the body lotion has. I can’t even stand to put the body lotion on my arms and hands because of the overpowering smell.

Mike Rivera says:

I would love to hear your thoughts on the tinted face version of this sunscreen

Esbysbg says:

I love the finish and can be used alone without make up and looks good plus it may be a good primer, however, it broke me out so much and now I’m looking for an acne, hyperpigmentation regimen.
