FAQ:
What top coat/base coat do you use?
– I don’t have a favorite topcoat, usually I use the INM Out The Door (can be found at Sally’s Beauty Supply) for swatches and the HK Girl from Glisten & Glow for manicures. My all time favorite base coat the CND Stickey. You can find that on Amazon.com or at Ulta stores.
Why do you take your picture and video swatches separately?
– Since my lighting, camera settings, and tripod all have to be adjusted when switching from pictures to video, its faster, and helps keep the lighting more consistent, if I batch process all the pictures at once and then all the videos at another time. It also helps me get a feel for how to work with the polish if I do my pictures before the video.
How long do you let your nail polish dry between coats?
– I wait until a coat is completely dry to the touch before adding another one. The time it takes for that to happen varies from polish to polish, but usually is around 5-10 minutes.
How long do swatch videos take you to make?
– To take pictures, film, edit, and upload, it takes between 5-8 hours depending on the size of the collection.
Why don’t you paint EVERY SINGLE inch of your nail and ALL THE WAY UP TO THE CUTICLE EVERY SINGLE TIME?! DEAR GOD WHY?!
– I purposely avoid the sides of my nails and my cuticle line when I’m swatching because I do swatches one after the other after the other. Removing polishes that are applied too close to the skin can stain the skin around my nails and make the next swatch look bad. I do it to keep the video clips and pictures clean.
Where did you get the drawers behind you?
– The storage drawers behind me are stacked 3 drawer units that can be found at Michael’s craft stores. I do NOT recommend them for large collections as they are not sturdy enough for the weight of the polish. The bottoms of the drawers bow and fall out.
Why don’t you use a peel-off base coat when you swatch? You should use the UNT one because Simplynailogical uses it and everyone should use everything she uses with no exceptions.
– I speed swatch. The polish is still wet or tacky by the time I remove it to apply the next one. Using a peel-off base coat would not only add an extra step to my routine, but would require me to wait for the polish to dry before it could be peeled off. This would end up taking more time and be less efficient for me.
Trust me, if Cristine suggests it, I try it…but everyone has different taste in products and everyone does things differently. Two people can have vastly different opinions on a product. It doesn’t mean that one of them is wrong, it means that they’re different people.
Are you going to swatch the Essie/OPI/China Glaze _ collection?
– Yes.

I love the brush! It covers my nail and I have almost no cleanup to do. Thanks for your video!
beautiful colors
Caramello is sold out ☹️
You did an amazing job with this review! Just subbed
My Brick Sidewalk is much more burnt orange than red. So weird!
My Caramello is so much more yellow. Weird.
Great swatch video. Caramello looks like baby food color. Liked some of the other colors.
Hi! I was waiting for your review on these! If you do end up remembering a dupe for Brick sidewalk, please please please let me know 😀
zoey is the color i never knew i needed
I ordered mine the day they launched and still have not received it. Emailed the company…no response. Super frustrating!
I hate rubber tops! when I inevitably spill acetone on then they become eternally sticky
I waited for your video and some other swatchers to talk about these, before making a purchase. The ones I would get, are the ones you mentioned, but I feel like I don’t need them, which has made me talk myself out of purchasing them many times.
As always, lovely video. I love your channel!
I’m not a fan of the brush either :/ Great review Jess! The bottles are also very very similar to Nine Zero Lacquer bottles!!!
Caramello is really nice!
I want Caramello so baaad but I’m so broooke xP Are these limited edition?
Am I the only one who likes the brush
Where did you buy these nail polishes, and what is the prices, because I really like these colors, like the brown and the dusty pink, , I don’t know how old you are, but back in 1979-80 Avon had a color that was called plum parfait , it was a cream, the color was a creamy light tan, with a hint of plum, and it was a beautiful color, I have been trying to find a color that comes close to it but I have not had any luck, I see that you have many shades of polish, and you probley get polishes from different company , but if you ever run across a color like the one I was telling you about , please let me know, because I would buy several bottle of the color, it looks great on every skin tone, from the whitest to the darkest, it is just the prettiest color that I have ever seen, I enjoy watching your videos,
I’d love to compare Brick Sidewalk to OPI Skyfall. I fell in love with it and am still kicking myself because I did not buy backups
I can see the challenge with the brush as you apply. It looks like the stiffness makes the polish drag and leaves light spots.
caramello is so beautiful! love it.
I’ve been waiting for a review from you. Yay!
Thanks for the swatches on this collection I love that mustard color as well as Zooey. Great job Jess!
I hate a wide brush but I use it on its side so it’s thin. I have tiny nail beds for my pinkies and index fingers. that is a work around though for anyone interested
Please swatch opi nail envy colors
ooooóo
Yesss so happy you finally reviewed love it!!
Does anyone have difficulty with applying the right amount of polish? The consistency is much thicker than other polishes that I’m used to….Maybe I’m just bad at applying nail polish
is it the lighting or is brick side walk brighter here? Im wearing that one now it id looks more brick red or a brownish red then a brighter red!?
The shipping issues was more annoying then anything else. I preordered and jess got hers weeks way before me lol.
