I am so happy to have found so many wonderful, new generation, pure, 100% mineral sunscreens! For the last few years I’ve trialed so many to find the formulas are getting better and better! If you have darker skin, these may leave a minimal whitecast and tinted versions could work better. I thought it would be helpful to separate a few sunscreens as ones that are particularly good for drier, more mature skin types, though most of the formulas will work either as a primer or a moisturizer substitute to suit all skin types! Ofcourse, all our skin reacts so differently to products, and this is just my experience. These are my favourites and I will consistenty be updating you on new ones that I feel stand out! Stay tuned for more sunscreen videos!

I’ve included ones that are good for all skin concerns, oily, acne prone, sensitive post-procedure skin, dry and mature skin. These are also great under makeup and very importantly, leave no, or minimal whitecast! For reference, I’m about a smidge darker than an NC-25.

Thank you, my loves for your patience. I’ve been out with the flu and couldn’t wait to start filming again. Pls excuse the post-flu, patchy-face!

How do you reapply sunscreen when there’s make up on your skin?

Therena says:

Hey Renee!! I am absolutely in love with your videos and they are so informative! You have helped me immensely on trying to find the skincare for my skin! I was wondering if you could do a video of your favorite moisturizers? I’m on the hunt for a moisturizer cream/gel cream for my sensitive skin and I’d love some advice 🙂 thank you!!

Kayla Huynh says:

Hi Renee, thanks for sharing a great video. All products you recommended are wonderful, i wish I can tried them all. But I have acne skin, so its really hard for me to choose one. Can you give me a advice which one is the best for acne skin among those products. I really want to get one to protect my skin from getting worse :((

Wonderful video!!

amznmmdprncss says:

Random question, but do you know if there is there any problem with using Japanese or Korean body sunscreens on the face?

trinisdj says:

I just had to say that lip colour looks AMAZING on you!

F kkk says:

should we double cleanse when wearing sunscreen, even if we r not wearing makeup? says:

The Pratima sunscreen doesn’t have the FDA required Drug Panel – red flag.

Paula K says:

thanks a lot for the video!! did you ever try the Kimberley Sayer ultra light moisturizer? although it’s recommended for oily skin and I do actually have dry skin I really love it!!

Simply Esther says:

Hi!! Hope you’re staying cool!! I discovered Kiss My Face face and neck spf comes in spf 30 and 50. I haven’t tried the 50 but the formulation of the 30 is amazing!! It’s also a great moisturizer, has gentle ingredients and is a hybrid between physical and chemical. Have you tried this one before? I’m forever looking for my holy grail and I know you are too so I thought I’d share. Also it doesn’t hurt that’s you can buy for under $10!!! ❤️❤️❤️

Gabriela M says:

Im usually paler than the lightest shade at drugstores or the occasional light foundation like L’Oreal Pro Glow in the lightest shade. Will the IT cosmetics Anti-Aging Armour SPF 50+ be too dark for me?

Maria Mendez says:

Thank you for the review, I purchased the la Rochey posey.

Benedicta Agha says:

You should definitely do a video in moisturisers for skin types like this video

Nikka27 Yoga says:

Hi Renee, I would love if you could do a video on moisturizers for day time. I’m over 40 years old, have normal to dry skin and not sure if I should use a moisturizer and a sunscreen on top or just a good sunscreen or just an oil and sunscreen, etc. Please help!!

Do you like me ? I am Suga's 3 dollar chain says:

Hi Reena :] what do you think about innisfree sunscreens or in general innisfree brand itself? because I litterally buy everything from innisfree lol 😛 ♡

ineedsunnys says:

Love your post! My dermatologist told me to use 5ml of sunscreen (not 2.5ml aka 1/4tsp) which is enough for your face and neck

Kayla says:

Have you ever tried the Elta MD spf 46? I’ve heard it’s great, but I was curious of your thoughts on it if you have tried it?

qpixie says:

Thank you so much for such informative video! I was in the hunt of a good no white cast sunscreen! 🙂

Dragon boy says:

what do you think about making your own sunscreen using zinc oxide powder, Shea butter, coconut oil ect

Reiko Misumi Schelm says:

So nice to see manufacturers selling to the US market up their game…I have no issues with chemical sunscreens but I would have never even glanced at mineral formulas outside of Japan a few years ago. Bioré and Shiseido are still my loves but I picked up the Murad and Bare Minerals formulas, I like them!

Kristina Wright says:

Nice review on mineral sunscreens. Sadly none of those except maybe LRP are sold in Australia as a listed sunscreen plus for the amount of sunscreen recommended to use it is often too costly with shipping to get sent here. Maybe overseas companies don’t go through Aus sunscreen standard testing. Luckily we have good sunscreens here. The mineral sunscreen I use is by an Australian natural company called Moogoo. I believe they sell overseas. It is 24.9% Zinc but is thicker consistency, which natural companies tend to be than the milky consistency that have alcohol, mineral oil or silicones (I use sunscreens with those too) but it does rub in clear on me, just takes patience! Oh and your skin looks so good. Can tell you are knowledgeable about your skincare and what works for you.

Kat says:

Hi Renee! Great advice, thank you <3! Please please, can you make a video talking how to treat active acne? (acne lesions) on the majority of time my skin do well, but when its near to come the time of the month, literally freaks out 🙁 I get acne and my skin is prone to hyper pigmentation. All the hard work I've been doing to clear up my acne scars goes to trash 🙁

Linda Tsai says:

hi renee! this is a super helpful video and i will definitely look into your recommendations for oily skin! i didn’t really understand the thing you said about vitamin c ester at the beginning… i thought vitamin c makes your skin more photosensitive, but you said to apply in the morning and that it will help… (help with what?) if you could please elaborate/clarify, that would be so appreciated!! thank you!!

bex says:

does the bare minerals have silicone in it?

Michele says:

Good job! Best mineral sunscreen video ever!

09319531 UCD says:

I have the skin ceuticals one and if you are nc 42 or above it will most definitely leave a white cast. Not sure about the other ones but thought I would point out that the title of this video is false

Nora Y says:

You are so lovely! So glad I found your channel! Thank you!
I would really like to hear your thoughts on organic skincare.
Lots of love,

Marie Laroussette says:

I really like your video ! Super informative! I would like to know which sunscreen you think smell the less the typical sunscreen odour ? (I smell bare minerals and josie maran and I think they still smell like sunscreen, so I don’t feel confortable wearing that everyday…) Thank you for tour video !

maria m says:

How do you reapply if you wear foundation?

Raven Darkholme says:

If you have darker skin, stay away from that Bare Minerals sunscreen. It’s light, but the amount of rubbing you have to do to get rid of the white cast is not worth it. It’s okay if you’re going to put foundation on top, but not good by itself.

ImChangYeng says:

Can you talk about antioxidant? I read that they can be harmful when they neutralize a free radical thus making themselves a free radical. Love this video btw :))))))

sj1605 says:

I tried the skinceuticals sunscreen after watching this and I LOVE it. It is truly cast free. I am around nc44. And this has the most beautiful finish on the skin. Skin looks radiant and healthy. I have oily skin so I don’t like greasy products. This is so light. says:

Great video though! It’s very difficult to find a sunscreen with GOOD ingredients that is also effective. The FDA has not approved any new sunscreen ingredients in 18 years, making formulation innovation nearly impossible. Sunscreen is a must in every woman’s skincare routine, so thanks for promoting this practice… even if there is not one “perfect” sunscreen on the market!

Wafa Mn says:

What do you think about Bioderma Cicabio spf 50+ please? I think it broke me out but im not sure 🙁

Sonika says:

White mask is not a bad thing just cover it up with foundation or pressed powder !
